Senior Data Scientist - Machine Learning Data Scientist

Job description

Location: Antwerp (Belgium), Toronto (Canada), or Vilnius (Lithuania)

As a Data Scientist, you are an experienced machine learning practitioner and python programmer with a background in computer science. You will be part of our data science team and work in a dynamic and multi-cultural environment, among the brightest minds sourced from 26 different countries. Based on your experience, you will be able to lead your own projects and guide other people.


Job description


  • You will help the team to improve upon current methods and models. With a practical mindset, you will bring these models into a production environment.

  • You will design deep learning pipelines to port existing functionalities onto the mobile device platform.
  • Your software development experience will allow you to closely collaborate with our Engineering team to improve our models and push them through our release process.

Depending on your domain of expertise: 

  • You will work with big data (GPS fixes and sensor data) from hundreds of thousands of users.

  • You will train algorithms related to activity detection (type of transports, home/work location, etc.) and human behavior (commuting, sporting, shopping, etc.).

  • You will create machine learning pipelines capable of extracting insights from social interactions between users on our platforms.


 Desired skills and expertise

  • You have a masters degree or PhD in computer science or a related field.

  • You have at least 3 years of experience in designing and deploying machine learning pipelines to production.
  • You have experience in deep learning implementation using Tensorflow.

  • You are fluent in Python programming  and have a strong interest or experience in software engineering.
  • You know how to use relational and non-relational databases (SQL, ElasticSearch...)
  • You can apply a scientific methodology to problem solving

  • You can analyze data, perform statistical analysis, and clearly report and document your findings.
  • You can work independently and take matters into your own hands.


Experience with any of the following is considered a plus

  • Signal processing.
  • Geo-spatial data processing
  • Sensor data modeling from mobile devices or wearable
  • Data engineering technologies (Spark, Kafka, database,...)
  • MLops technologies (MLflow,...)
  • Mobile programming (Android or iOS)
