Joining this role, you will support us in generating top quality user insights and predictions out of low-level sensor data from smartphones and will contribute to making the lives of people safer, healthier & more convenient.

These insights enable our clients across insurance, mobility, wellbeing and commerce industries to create innovative and personalized offerings that contribute to making the life of their users safer, healthier and ultimately more sustainable.

At Sentiance, our Engineers and Scientists strive every day at generating the most valuable and precise users’ behavioural motion insights, predictions models and behaviour change models and features. What would be your key responsibilities?

As a Data Science Lead, you will manage a geographically distributed team of Data/Machine Learning Scientists. With us, you have the chance to work with big data (geospatial and sensor-based) from hundreds of thousands of users.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and growing a diverse team of Data/ML Scientists through effective recruiting, mentoring, coaching, and retention strategies for key talents in a highly competitive environment

  • Ensuring high quality and on time delivery of the team on the following aspects:
    • Design and implementation of state-of-the-art methods for both supervised and unsupervised learning.

    • Training algorithms to predict low events concepts (type of transports, home/work location) and human behavior (commuting, sporting, shopping).

    • Delivering our models into a production environment in a sustainable way.

    • Collaborating closely with our Data Engineering and Mobile Engineering teams to improve our models and push them through our release process.

  • Maintaining standards and keeping abreast with the latest research and development in academia and industry to deliver functional excellence in data and machine learning science

  • Conceiving, planning, and prioritising data projects

  • Building analytic systems and predictive models

  • Testing the performance of data-driven products

  • Visualising data and creating reports relevant to business stakeholders

  • Experimenting with new models and techniques

  • Aligning data projects with organisational goals


 


Requirements




What are the essential qualities to be successful in this role?

  • You have a masters degree or PhD in computer science or a related field.

  • You are an expert in machine learning, deep learning, and data modeling.

  • You are fluent in Python

  • You have experience in software engineering and deployment to production

  • You know how to translate research findings into business-relevant products

  • You have experience in managing data scientists

  • You have a real passion for solving exigent problems and you have an open mind that enables you to uncover the underlying problem

  • You have a strong business acumen

  • You possess strong organisational leadership skills

The Nice to Have:

  • Sensor data modeling from mobile devices or wearables

  • Data engineering expertise

  • Experience with Java / Kotlin

  • Knowledge of mobile development

  • Experience with reinforcement learning

  • Knowledge in behavioural science
